How We Serve

Sharing God’s Love with Others

The Rose of Sharon
Since 1985 the Rose of Sharon has provided support and educational services to pregnant and parenting young women under the age of 25 across York Region. The CWG has supported this agency and in the past few years have donated $500, representing a portion of the proceeds from the Bake Table at our Christmas Bazaar, and this money was used to fill Christmas baskets with clothing and toys.

St. Vincent de Paul
The loonies and toonies placed in the poor box on Sunday are put to work in the community, providing emergency assistance to people who may suddenly find themselves in need. This may include food vouchers, clothing and furniture, and the work of this organization is done with humility and respect for human dignity. The CWG holds a pie sale after mass one weekend a year in support of St. Vincent de Paul.

Sharing God’s Love with our Parish Family

Baptismal Bibs
A dedicated group of ladies within the Parish assist with the baptismal bibs. Once the fabric has been cut and the edges serged, the bibs are then hand embroidered and a special fabric label attached indicating it was made with love by the CWG. These are then made available for all baptisms in our Parish.

First Communion and Confirmation
The CWG is taking an active role in helping our parish children commemorate their First Communion and Confirmation by giving them a memorable gift. Further to this gift, the membership of the CWG will present these personally to the children at the Mass following their first celebration of the Sacrament.

Graduating Student Bursary within the Parish
The CWG was honoured to initiate a bursary in 2012 to a graduating student from our Parish. Up to $500 will be made available for the bursary each year, with funds provided by our annual Spaghetti Dinner.

Remembering Our Deceased Members
A candle lit Honour Guard of CWG members is offered to the families of all deceased members of the CWG at their funeral Mass by request, with our love and respect. We will always remember them. We also remember them further by honouring them with ceremony, at our annual Membership Tea and respectfully commemorate their passing into the Kingdom of God on a plaque displayed in our meeting room.

Monthly Meetings
The CWG meets on the second Tuesday of every month from Septmember to June, beginning with the Celebration of the Eucharist. We discuss the business of the CWG, and more importantly, to come together to hear and share the wisdom of our guest speakers, take part in various activities or have evenings of fellowship including our Christmas Wine and Cheese celebration, Membership Tea and Closing Dinner.
